Why Sea Point?
Sea Point gives you the sea and the mountain on the same street. Mornings start on the Prom, the city is a short bus ride or drive away, and you can do most of daily life on foot. It suits nomads who want a neighbourhood with real local life rather than a resort.
The seasons matter in Cape Town. Summer (roughly November to April) brings long, sunny days and a buzzing town; winter (May to October) is quieter and cosier. Plenty of nomads spend the Cape Town winter somewhere sunnier and come back for summer.
Where to work
Main Road and Regent Road have plenty of coffee shops and bakeries for an hour or two with a laptop. For full days and video calls, a coworking desk is more relaxed: reliable fibre, a quiet spot for calls and people to have lunch with. Our local's guide to coworking in Sea Point goes into the options.
At Howzit?, nomads usually start with a day pass (R395 in summer, R325 in winter) and then take a summer season pass: 3 months in a row between November and April for R9,950. Coming in only a few days a week? The 10-day pack is R2,950, valid for 60 days. See all the hot desk prices. If you're travelling with a small team, our private offices start at R18,000 a month.
Where to stay
Sea Point has a big mix of apartments and houses. A common approach is to book a flexible first stay, get a feel for the area, then look for something longer once you know which streets you like. Before you book, ask about the wifi (fibre is what you want for calls) and whether there's a proper desk and chair.
Or live where you work. Co-living at Howzit? means three furnished bedrooms in our Sea Point house, with the coworking space included, and we're now taking bookings for stays between 1 December 2026 and 1 June 2027:
| Room | Per day | Per month |
|---|---|---|
| En-suite bedroom (1 room) | R1,400 | R22,000 |
| Bedroom, shared bathroom (2 rooms) | R1,000 | R18,000 |
Linen, a weekly clean, wifi and utilities are included, every stay comes with 1 free breakfast, and you're welcome at Social House events. On other mornings, homemade breakfasts are freshly made in the house and available to order separately, if you fancy one. Prices in ZAR per room, incl. VAT where applicable; launch prices, subject to change.
Where to swim
Sea Point Pavilion pool. The Sea Point Swimming Pool on Beach Road is a City-run saltwater complex with a 50-metre main pool, a diving pool and splash pools, right on the ocean's edge. It's open all year and only takes card payments; check the City's page for hours and fees.
Saunders' Rocks. A small tidal pool among granite boulders at the Bantry Bay end of the Prom. Lovely at sunset, and popular on summer weekends. The City advises swimming where and when a lifeguard is on duty.
The Atlantic. It's cold here, even in summer, so most locals treat a sea swim as a quick, bracing dip. The rocky shore along Sea Point is great for rock pools; for long sandy beaches, head further along the coast towards Clifton and Camps Bay.
Where to move
The Sea Point Promenade runs from Mouille Point to Bantry Bay, with lawns, benches and outdoor gym equipment along the way. It's where Sea Point walks, runs and walks its dogs. Some stretches are for walkers only, so check the signs if you're on wheels.
Lion's Head (669 m) is the neighbourhood's mountain. The path starts on Signal Hill Road and SANParks puts it at about 1 to 1.5 hours up, with chains near the top. Take water and go early or for sunset. Next door, Signal Hill is where the noon gun marks 12:00 over the city.
Where to eat
Main Road and Regent Road are the everyday food streets: coffee shops, bakeries, lunch spots, delis and supermarkets. Mojo Market on Regent Road is an indoor food market with lots of food stalls and live music, open every day, and a handy place to meet people. And don't leave without a braai, South Africa's much-loved barbecue; at Howzit? there's one right by the pool.
Getting around
- On foot: most of daily life in Sea Point is walkable.
- MyCiTi buses: route 105 runs Sea Point–Fresnaye–Civic Centre, and routes 108 and 109 connect Sea Point with Hout Bay. The buses are cashless, so get a myconnect card and load it before you ride. See the MyCiTi route map.
- From the airport: the MyCiTi airport service is temporarily suspended, so most people use a ride-hailing app such as Uber or Bolt.
